Grants Awarded 2014

Daniel Popkin, M.D. Ph.D. is the recipient as co-investigator with his collaborator, Don Anthony, MD, of a newly awarded Merit Review grant from the US Veterans Administration national medical research program.  The grant will allow the investigators to advance our immune system strategies for treatment of and vaccination of chronic hepatitis C, which has great impact not only on the liver of infected individuals, but also other organs due to activation of a dysfunctional immune response.

Dr. Popkin was also recently awarded the Center For AIDS Research “Catalytic Fund for Strategic Interdisciplinary Research” along with Dr. Don Anthony, for their collaborative efforts to understand and redirect dysfunctional inflammation in the HIV patient population.
